The Cottage Hospital was erected by Major General Sir Sawai Madho Singh Bahadur in memory of his friend Lt. Col. Sir Curzon Wyllie in A.D 1911. The Zanana Ward has been built for Rs 43,470 by Sir Sawai Madho Singh Bahadur in memory of Lady Hardinge of Penshurst Vicereine of India and was opened by Lord Reading Viceroy and Governor-General of India on 19th March 1922. The Mayo Hospital was another name of this hospital in the public domain. But in 1937 this hospital was converted into a court and transport office. On 1st March 1987, the Chief Minister Late Haridev Joshi again converted this building into a hospital for women’s care. At that time 176 beds were sanctioned with two units. In 1989 four medical shops were started by Kardhani. The Cubical ward of this hospital was constructed by donation in 1997. Presently there are 504 sanctioned beds out of which there are 33 ICU beds.

Since 2004, this hospital had Modern Labour Rooms, Operation Theatre & Intensive care units. A new Outdoor block, Blood Bank, Laboratory, X-Ray, and Ultrasound units were constructed by RUIDP (Rajasthan Urban Infrastructure Development Project) & started on 29th July 2005. On 26 March 2015, Rajasthan’s first state-run Human Milk Bank (Jeevan Dhara) was inaugurated by Health Minister Shri Rajendra Singh Rathore at Mahila Chikitsalaya in collaboration with NIPI(Norwegian Govt.) & J.K. Lon Hospital, Jaipur. It aims to collect excess breast milk from willing lactating mothers after the screening which is provided to newborns and infants deprived of it. The Milk Bank is following International guidelines during the procedures. This will help in reducing the Infant Mortality Rate in Rajasthan. A new Mother & Neonatal wing built by Central Govt. of India (NRHM) comprising 100 beds and all modern facilities including two Modern Labour Rooms, one neonatal unit, four O.Ts, one recovery room, one waiting hall, three wards, and nineteen cottage and cubical rooms, & one blood bank and two lifts will be inaugurated shortly. This year the burden of patients in the hospital has been affected compared to previous years due to the global pandemic COVID-19 and the hospital has been declared a dedicated hospital for the COVID -19 patients. In 2021, the no of tests done through pathology, microbiology, biochemistry, immunology, and radiology dept were 227641, 67392, 389960, 4099, and 63390 respectively. Similarly, the beneficiaries of FW services and Immunization clinics have greatly increased. Due to better communication, consultation & comprehensive treatment an average of 113 ANC patients and 204 Gynae patients are benefitted daily from the OPD. There is a total no. of 103 IPD admissions/day. There are approximately 21 LSCS /day and 18 vaginal deliveries/day. 4D ultrasound & mammography have also been started shortly. Similarly, internet connection & computers have been made available in the department. A total no. of 60 CCTV cameras have been installed throughout the hospital with central monitoring for security purposes. Another feather in the cap is the newly built modern 100 bedded mother & neonatal wing (17 crores). In the year 2020 in the global pandemic COVID-19, this hospital was declared a dedicated hospital for the treatment of Gynae & Obst suspected and positive COVID patients. One more gate was opened for the hospital to facilitate easy movements of patients and their families from Ramniwas bagh.

Emergency Department:

It is available for Obstetrics & Gynaecology patients in Room No. 15 round the clock. A senior doctor with a resident doctor and a nurse is available for the same. Information on the doctor’s duty roster is available on the notice board. For first-aid services, emergency drugs, dressing trolly, equipment, stretcher, and wheelchair are readily available.

Outdoor Patient Department (OPD):

Strength of Obst. & Gynae. faculty & other doctors are 7 Professors, 9 Asst. Professors, 4 Senior Residents (SR), 2 Senior Specialists, 2SMO, 7 M.O & 30 Resident Doctors.

Gynaecology OPD:
It is being run in room no. 15 on all weekdays by a team of faculty members, resident doctors, and other doctors along with the nursing staff. STD clinic is run simultaneously and patients are provided with drug kits and counseled by a counselor free of cost. A waiting area and Help Desk are available near this OPD.

Antenatal Clinic (ANC):
It is being run in room no. 20 from Monday to Saturday. At the entry of ANC, there is a waiting area for the patients and attendants with a facility of television & video player to provide educational information regarding HIV, pregnancy, Antenatal care, childcare, immunization, contraception, etc. Attached to this waiting area is an ICTC with two counselors and two Lab technicians for the guidance of pregnant ladies about HIV & Voluntary testing for HIV. Basic Laboratory investigations like Hb% and urine for albumin & sugar are available in ANC itself with the facility of Tetanus Toxoid injection, emergency drugs, patient’s trolly, and wheelchairs.

There are four computerized registration counters near the OPD for general, BPL patients and for investigation slips.

Laboratory:
There is 1 Assistant Professor in Pathology, one Biochemist & 11 technicians. Laboratory investigations are available in Room No. 21. Certain investigations are available free under the schemes JSSY and MNJY which include Pathology, Biochemistry, and Microbiology investigations during hospital hours. During emergency hours, investigations are sent at the central lab, SMS Hospital, Jaipur.

X-Ray and Sonography:
There is 1 Assistant Professor, 3 Resident Doctors & 5 technicians. Digital X-Ray, ECG, and Ultrasonography facilities are available round the clock. Colour Doppler Sonography, 4-D Ultrasound & Mammography are available for high-risk patients during routine hours.

Hospital Pharmacy:
The Medical Store facility is available inside the hospital campus and near the wards. Seven medical counters (DDC) provide free medicines including, one, 24 hours drug counter on the ground floor. These counters are supervised by doctors.

Indoor Patient Department (IPD):
Junior & Senior doctors take round every day in the morning & evening. Resident doctors are available round the clock inwards supervised by faculty members. Senior Doctors perform floor & on-call duties. IPD is fully equipped with an oxygen supply, nebulizer, resuscitative equipment, suction machine, medicines & others.

Clean Labour Room (CLR):
There are two well-equipped CLRs (total no. of 19 beds) which run round the clock, alternatively after proper cleaning & fumigation. Each is provided with well-trained doctors & nursing staff with modern facilities like Oxygen lines, Recliner Beds, Pulse oxymeters, Doppler Ultrasound, NST, CTG, attached nursery & central AC. It has an attached CLR ward near the labor room reception area.

Septic Labour Room (SLR):
Septic & high-risk patients are treated here with all modern amenities including ICU beds, oxygen line, & Central AC. There is a total no. of 11 beds. It has an attached SLR ward for less serious patients.

Day Care Room:
Available for observation & treatment of anemic patients requiring Blood Transfusion & IV iron therapy & for patients with minor operations & other daycare surgeries.

Specialty Clinics: In each Specialty clinic there is one Professor along with one to two Assistant Professors and Medical officers. Infertility, Menopause, Colposcopy, RTI/STI & High-risk Pregnancy Clinics run on all working days from 12 O’clock to 2 PM in the summers. & 1 PM to 3 PM in winters for better & preventive patient care.

Family Welfare Clinic: There is one Senior Specialist & One Medical Officer. They provide Counselling Services & offer contraception and follow-up care for methods like Anirudh, oral pills, Interval IUCD & PPICUD (temporary methods), and terminal methods like sterilization & recanalization.

Immunization Clinic: Runs from Monday to Saturday.

Library & Seminar Hall & Meeting Hall: It is available for UGs, PGs teaching & interaction by Faculty Members with audiovisual aids and a museum.

Medical Record Officer: Provides information regarding Vital Statistics, Birth & Death records & RTI. Indoor patients’ tickets are maintained & information about birth & death is sent to Nagar Nigam, Jaipur.

FIRST FLOOR

Blood Bank:
There is 1 Assistant Professor, 1 Medical Officer, 8 technicians & 1 Counselor. The blood bank can store 400 (whole blood) bags round the clock. At a time 200- 250 bags are available, the daily collection is 15-20 units & a free supply of 20 units /day is done under JSSY. Blood units are tested for Hepatitis B & C, HIV, VDRL & malaria.

Pediatrics Unit (NICU):
There is 1 Professor, 2 Assistant Professors, 2 Senior Residents & 5 Resident Doctors. It includes the NICU (Neonatal Intensive care unit.), PTO room, observation room, and newly inaugurated Milk Bank (Jeevan Dhara) & Breast-Feeding Management Room for treatment and observation of newborn who is at high risk or has the disease. It is equipped with state of art like support systems for each newborn like ventilators, monitors, infusion pumps, humidifiers, incubators, phototherapy machines, blood gas analyzers & others.

Operation Theatre (OT):
There are 2 Senior Professors, 1 Assistant Professor, 1 Senior Resident & 6 Resident Doctors in the Department of Anesthesia. It is fully equipped with Ventilators, Defibrillators, Monitors, Infusion pumps, suction machine, Resuscitative equipment, piped oxygen, Central AC, 24 hrs electricity supply with a backup generator. Six OT tables run simultaneously during routine hours. Three tables run during emergency hours. Operations are done free of cost except for Laparoscopy surgeries. Major Operations (by Abdominal & Vaginal routes) & minor operations are done routinely. Microsurgery, and minimally invasive surgeries including (Diagnostic Laparoscopy, Hysteroscopy, LAVH, TLH & others are also done). OT consists of well-trained anesthetists round the clock. Recovery Room & ICU (I Floor) & Pre & Post Operative Wards & Maternity wards (I & II Floor) are available for observation and treatment of operated patients. They are fully equipped with resuscitative equipment.
